Fight Fear: Herbs for Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is among the top silent killers of women. Although it might not be the first in the list, it is the most feared disease of women.

Nowadays, women are becoming cautious; regular checkups for the lumps in the breast, regular appointments in doctors, and regular medications (natural or artificial). This is not a wonder since nobody wants to die.

For women, the breast is one of the most important and one of the very special parts of their body. The breast provides life for a child, provides beauty for a great proportioned body, and sometimes acts as a key asset in terms of aesthetics.

Imagine the horrors that women face with just the thought of acquiring breast cancer. It is like the story of Cinderella but the only difference is that there is no Prince Charming to return the lost glass shoe.

During the research period, researchers have found that herbs are useful for the prevention and treatment of cancer.

There are evidences that women still benefit from natural world with the use of herbs for breast cancer.

Red Clover (Trifolium pretense)

The red clover is probably the most famous anti-cancer herb. It has the four phytoestrogens, lignans, coumestans, isoflavones, and resorcylic acid lactones, needed to bind the estrogen receptors in the cells.

The great amount of Vitamin-C found in red clovers also act as good antioxidants needed to lessen the risk of malignant changes. The minerals found in red clover, like zinc, also boost the immune system which only means a better fight against breast cancer.

The benefit of red clover is not limited to cancer related diseases. Native Americans find red clovers as great home remedies for coughs, wheezing, and bronchitis. There are also studies that link red clovers as special herbs for cardiovascular diseases due to its ability to lower bad cholesterols. It is also a good diuretic which herbalists use for centuries.

Sources of Red Clover:
Red clovers are native in Asia, Europe and Africa. Due to its medical contributions, it is now widely distributed and cultured for different purposes.

For women with breast cancers, the most ideal treatment would be to completely bind the estrogen receptors using phytoestrogens. Flax seeds are one of the best sources of lignan, one of the four phytoestrogens. Flax seeds also contain high amounts of antioxidants that reduce the daily oxidative damage that happen in the cells. This results to lesser risk of malignant changes.

Aside from the anti-cancer abilities of flax seeds, it also is rich in Omega-3 which is great against inflammation and helps reduce the risk of heart diseases. It is rich in fiber - great for people on diet. However, excess intake of flax seeds might lead to stomach cramps or might trigger laxative effects.
