How To Exercise On The Move

We all like to keep fit these days and stay trim, but the truth is that with our busy lives and work schedules, sometimes we really don’t seem to have time. Although running a busy life and constantly being on the move is actually a form of exercise, there is so much more we can do to get fit while we work.

As a busy businessman or even a normal hard worked employee, there is really little point in spending out money on a gym membership; after all, when would you have time to use it. So many of us have good intentions by signing up with a local gym or a fitness centre, but find that we have really just thrown way the money, as between work and family commitments, there really just is no time to go to the gym.

Another downside of constantly being on the move and having a busy work schedule is that meals often become fast food and junk food on the move. A family dinner around the dining table is becoming a thing of the past, people opting to bring home a take away or dial for a pizza when they finally get home. All this is of course not only having a negative impact on our health and fitness levels, but also on family relations.

So, it really is time to get healthy and start exercising more. But how do you do this when you are constantly busy and on the move? Firstly, you need to organize your life more thoroughly. Set your alarm clock just half an hour earlier than you normally would and do some quick exercises at home before you jump into the shower. If you have a family pet such as a dog, then this half an hour is an excellent time to take your dog for an early morning run, leaving you awake, revitalized and ready for the day ahead.

Next, make sure that you do not skip breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, will give you energy to carry on exercising throughout the day, and will stop you snacking on junk food throughout the day. If you drive to work, try doing stomach crunches while you are stuck in traffic or hamstring pulls, exercising those leg muscles while you wait.

If you get the bus or train to work, try getting off one stop before your regular stop and walk the rest of the way to work, when you arrive you will feel awake and full of energy, ready to start the day. The key here is to kick start your metabolism with a healthy breakfast and some early morning exercises so that your body is working to a maximum, leaving you feeling alert and healthy throughout the day.

And don’t forget all those exercises that you can do whilst sat at your desk, or even in the queue in the bank or the supermarket; don’t feel embarrassed, no one will spot you doing your stomach crunches!

And when your day is finally over, make that extra effort to stop off and buy healthy ingredients for a healthy family supper instead of a take away pizza. Make a quick but healthy supper for the whole family, and of course, don’t forget carry on flexing those calves and stomach muscles while you get busy in the kitchen.
