Women’s Herbal Tool: Rosemary Herb for Dandruff Remedy

One of the most irritating hair problem suffered by women is dandruff. Because of today's busy world, dandruff can easily be triggered; by pollution, heavy exposure to sunrays, chlorinated water, sudden weather changes, and an unhealthy lifestyle.

Dandruff is often identified by shedding of dead skins and, usually, this comes with irritation and redness of skin. Today's market offers a lot of promising treatments to dandruff and other irritations which accompanies it.

These products, however, shows side effects due to the chemicals ingredients used to produce it. Well, Mother Nature has provided us with natural herbs we can use as remedies for our daily needs, especially dandruff. Aside from keeping your hair healthy, these herbs are guaranteed to have long lasting effect against dandruff, giving you nothing but a care-free remediation. Below are recommended women’s herbal tool against dandruff which can be used as a dandruff remedy.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

Growing with pine needle-like leaves, Rosemary is widely recognized for its worth as a hair and beauty aide. It can be used in the bath, especially on the body, the face, and the scalp. It is believed to stimulate hair growth and hair follicles, and generally, it is known to slow down or permanently hold of gray hair and hair loss.

Rosemary Hair Oil

Ingredients:

An air-tight lid sterile class jars
A cup of fresh rosemary leaves (can be bought from
here)
Sweet Almond oil

Directions

- Take the class jar and fill it up with the rosemary.
- Pour the sweet almond oil on the jar until the rosemary is completely covered.
- Look for the sunniest spot in your place and put the jar there.
- For 4 weeks or so, let the herb "steep".
- Check the jar daily and turn it slightly to make sure that the sun evenly contacts the sides.
- After the 4 weeks of steeping, using an all natural paper coffee silk, strain the leaves from the liquid.
- Filter into a sterilized and clean dark colored jar.
- Store in a cool, dark place.

Application

Take a clean glass bowl and pour enough for your current need; we don't want to be wasting a lot. Using a double boiler setup, heat the oil gently until it becomes warms, and make sure it is not too hot. With a clean cotton ball or your fingers, apply it gently to your hair.

Wear a plastic shower wrap. To help the oil soak into the hair's cuticle more easily, sit under a hood dryer or wrap hot towels over the plastic show wrap.

Anti-dandruff Shampoo Recipe

For making this recipe, glass pots are advisable.

Ingredients

A cup of dried rosemary leaves (can be bought from here)
A tablespoon of borax (available in your local health food store)
A litter of boiling water (distilled or spring water)
15 drops of Camphor

Instructions

- Boil the water for at least 5 minutes and place the rosemary leaves.

- When the water reaches full boil, turn off the stove (or any heat source) and then steep in the pot for at least 6 hours.

- Keep the mixture in a dark glass inside the refrigerator.

- Remember to heat enough just for your current treatment, so that not much would be put to waste. A mixture would probably last for a week or more; its effectiveness can be identified by its aroma.

- Right before you use the rosemary mixture, add 15 drops of liquid camphor.

- It is highly recommended that you start slowly with a low dosage since camphor can affect your sinuses if you inhale too much.

- You may want to start slowly with a lower dosage since camphor can really blast open your sinuses and can make your eyes water if you inhale too much.

- Saturate your itchy scalp or root area using a cotton ball dipped into the mixture. To have it more effective, wrap your hair in a plastic wrap for about 30 minutes.

- To have it on a deeper penetration, wrap a hot towel over the plastic wrap; but be reminded that rosemary can stain.

- The mixture can be applied daily or as desired.
